When you have an air conditioner that is not cooling, it can make life miserable. No one enjoys being uncomfortable, especially in the middle of the summer when the sun is in full swing and the days are long.
Sometimes, the issue that’s causing your AC not to cool is a minor one that can easily be remedied without having to call in a professional. However, this is not always the case. If you are having an issue with your air conditioner you’ll want to try a few things before you call a technician to come out.
First Stop: The Thermostat
It’s possible that your air conditioner is not cooling because your thermostat is not set properly. The simple solution is to try to turn the temperature down on the thermostat a few degrees. If this does not work, it’s probably a separate issue that is keeping your AC from doing its job.
Check Out the Circuit Breaker
Your air conditioner won’t do a good job of keeping you cool if the circuit breaker is tripped. Make sure that the breaker switch for your AC hasn’t been tripped. If it has, the switch will either be in the off position, or between the on and off positions. Flip the breaker switch back on and wait to see if your AC starts cooling again.
What if it is Running, But Not Cooling?
An air conditioner that is running, but not cooling could have a number of issues that require repair. Issues with the compressor are fairly common. It might be dirty, have a blockage, or be completely burned out.
Another cause for an air conditioner that does not cool, but is running could be the refrigerant level. Give AC Las Vegas a call. We’ve been serving the Las Vegas area for years and know what it takes to make our customers happy. Call 70-749-4976.
